Suburban Miners is an artesian eWaste recycling facility where everything is done by hand rather than large machinery using large amounts of fossil fuels. We are a Tucson family owned business that began recycling in 2007. It is now our 5th year and we are growing very fast. Our comprehensive no cost recycling programs have been a big hit and we are now proud to be servicing thousands of customers from all over Arizona and all over the United States through our mail-in programs.

We believe less is more

Our forklifts and tools run from electricity and natural gas rather than diesel fuel. Our sorting line is human powered and our facility is completely indoors creating a safer and cleaner environment for our customers to be in. We walk the walk. In 2010 our average electricity bill was under $70/month and sometimes as low as $50!

We protect the environment, not destroy it

In other recycling centers one encounters large diesel machinery, oil constantly being spilled into the ground from scrap vehicles, large equipment and from scrap metal that leaks various contaminants. When it rains onto an outdoor scrap yard, much of these contaminants are carried into the ground polluting our ground water. The pollutants are carried into the air when the wind kicks up dust and they are carried into the lungs and skin of the employees and customers on a daily basis potentially reducing their health and life span.

We are cleaner.

At our facility there is no dust pollution, no rain water pollution and no risk to our customers health. Our indoor facilities create a much safer and cleaner environment than is possible with an outdoor facility. At our indoor facility any spill is immediately cleaned up and properly disposed of in an environmentally safe way, not left on the ground as a normal course of business.

We reduce crime and drug use, not encourage it

We do not buy metal from the public because we have seen from first hand experience how it supports a rise in petty crime and a rise in methamphetamine and other drug use which leads to a negative impact on the cities residents and environment overall.

It is an unfortunate fact that many people use recycling proceeds to support meth and crack cocaine habits and this leads to theft of all sorts of things from city infrastructure to home and business air conditioning units, copper pipe, electrical wire and brass backflow preventers. Theft of this nature puts very heavy financial burdens on the victims and their businesses and this is bad for Arizona overall.

Our Services

Suburban Miners is an e-waste recycling specialist focused on 100% recovery and recycling programs for business, corporate and government/military clients. Suburban Miners also operates a free public pick up and drop off service for Tucson residential customers. Residential customers may donate any metal, plastic, wire or electronic waste and be ensured that we will recycle or place into re-use 100% of the items donated to us.

Mobile Data Destruction

Suburban Miners has made a substantial investment to provide our valued clients a top of the line mobile hard drive shredding and degaussing service. We provide data sanitation and electronic recycling services in strict adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. Through an unbroken chain of custody, our procedures and documentation guarantee absolute data security while ensuring full compliance with various federal regulations.

We have a proprietary mobile documenting service that can scan hard drive bar codes and asset tags, automatically enter them into a database and print certificates of destruction merged with your product ids for your records.

Our mobile degaussing and hard drive shredding service operates on site at your facility for uncomparable NSA level security.

Suburban Miners's Data Reinspect procedure gives Suburban Miner's clients an additional level of security. All equipment received at our facility is carefully inspected for the presence of data-containing media. If media not previously identified by the client is located, we immediately notify our point of contact with a complete description of the media, and upon direction, either return or destroy the media.

RE-USE Before RE-CYCLE

Suburban Miners believes in re-use over recycling. If an item has any value at all and is still in working condition, or can be repaired easily, we strive to place it back into use rather than destroy it for recycling. With that in mind we sell items through Ebay and direct to the public when possible. We sell computers and equipment at low prices to encourage a steady flow of sales. We have many artists, construction contractors and computer oriented customers who like to explore our facility for materials and products. We sell metal just above scrap price by the pound.

Committed to do the right thing:

We are happy to work free of charge with non profit groups, schools, churches, committees and charities to raise awareness, educate and/or consult in our area of expertise.

No Landfill Policy

Our goal is to exceed U.S. EPA standards for solid waste recycling, and we proudly adhere to a no-landfill policy for eWaste. We are also against illegal exporting of eWaste and strive to work with companies who share in our philosophy.

Suburban Miners complies with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations, including the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
